We’re sure you’ve heard the myth that a higher thread count means a better quality sheet. Thread count is the number of vertical and horizontal threads within a square inch of a sheet. Some manufacturers distort this number by not just counting the threads, but counting the individual plies that make up a thread. (This does not improve the quality of your sheets!) With sheets, the maximum thread count within a square inch of a sheet is around 400-500. Be wary of sheets that have more than a 500 thread count.
